What Others Are Saying
Working closely with other traditions has been both educational and incredibly empowering. I can’t master everything, but I don’t have to: I can refer patients to a trusted friend and colleague and then together we can make a strong therapeutic alliance.”
- Peter Lio, MD (Program Chair)
Working with other integrative practitioners helps provide a much broader and well-rounded treatment plan. It allows me to focus on what I am really good at knowing that my patients are getting great comprehensive care.”
Apple Bodemer, MD (Program Chair)
Integrative medicine is not simply integrative different perspective and it beautifully integrates different practitioners and practice modalities so that we support our patients with our mutual knowledge of therapy and desire to help the patient.”
Raja Sivamani, MD MS AP (Program Chair)
This is a comprehensive well-conceived curriculum that will be useful to your practice and patients!
Ritu Saini, MD

Are You Feeling Burnt Out, Uninspired, And Overwhelmed In Practice?
While exploring integrative medicine options for your patients can enhance your practice and patient care, many individuals studying these modalities will try them out for themselves and have their own new and exciting experiences.
"It’s a very energizing community. Going through these programs you will make amazing changes for yourself. I have made changes to my diet, to my exercise, to my exercise routine, to meditation, to the way I just treat myself and the way I think about my health in a different way..”
- Steven Daveluy, MD (IDCP Alumni)

Have your patients come in asking about alternative treatment options?
"Being an integrative practitioner brings back the “Art of Medicine.” As an integrative practitioner, you will be able to regain that creativity and tailor a treatment plan to each patient’s needs with a more holistic and individualized approach compared to “one size fits all.”
InYoung Kim, MD PhD
Many patients are now using complementary and alternative medicine (CAM) therapies, whether they disclose that in clinic or not, and are seeking practitioners who are knowledgeable with regards to taking an integrative approach with treatment options.
However, current dermatology education does not include an evidence-based curriculum around diet, nutrition, mind-body approaches, stress management, botanicals, skin product ingredients, or nutritional supplements despite patient demand.
When patients ask about topics not covered in conventional medical schools or training programs, practitioners are often left to look up the medical research on their own with no centralized, compiled, and vetted summary of the information. The IDCP is an opportunity to gain the confidence, skills, and support network necessary to incorporate a patient-centric and scientific approach to developing an integrative approach in your practice.

FAQs
Most frequent questions and answers
Integrative Dermatology expands traditional dermatology by incorporating complementary and alternative therapies to treat the whole person, not just the skin condition. This approach recognizes that factors like diet, nutrition, stress, and lifestyle can significantly impact skin health. For instance, the curriculum includes modules on nutrition, mind-body medicine, and the impact of herbs and supplements on skin. While many patients are already seeking out such therapies, conventional dermatology training often lacks sufficient education in these areas. IDCP equips dermatologists with the knowledge and tools to confidently address patient questions about integrative approaches and incorporate them into treatment plans.
The IDCP is a 9-month program. The curriculum is delivered primarily through online, self-paced modules, offering flexibility for busy dermatologists. In addition to the online coursework, the program includes weekly live virtual round table case discussions, providing opportunities to interact with faculty and peers. Participants should also plan to attend a two-day, in-person intensive session.
The program offers both payment plans and scholarships to help make it more affordable. Monthly payment plans start at $1,000 per month. Scholarships, ranging from $2,000 to $7,500, are also available to eligible applicants.
Expanded Services: The program equips dermatologists to offer a wider range of treatments, including those sought out by patients interested in integrative approaches. This can attract new patients seeking these services.
Enhanced Expertise: IDCP provides training in evidence-based integrative dermatology, allowing practitioners to confidently address patient questions about these therapies and incorporate them into treatment plans.
Improved Patient Care: By addressing the whole person—not just the skin condition—IDCP graduates can cultivate stronger patient relationships and improve outcomes.
Professional Growth: The program provides a structured learning pathway, access to a community of experts, and the potential to enhance professional reputation by offering specialized services.
To apply, the student needs to complete the application form, which is accepted on an ongoing basis. A non-refundable $125 fee must be submitted with the application. After the application is reviewed, a decision will be provided within two weeks. If accepted, the fee will be credited towards the program tuition of $12,500. Each new cohort begins on May 1st.
The IDCP is a good fit for board-certified dermatologists, physician assistants (PA’s), nurse practitioners (NP’s) or those with equivalent training who:
- Want to expand their knowledge and practice to include integrative approaches
- Are interested in addressing patient demand for complementary and alternative therapies
- Seek to differentiate their practice and attract new patients
- Value a holistic, patient-centered approach to care
- Are comfortable with online learning and can dedicate time for coursework and live sessions
- Are prepared to make a financial investment in their professional development
